Hopkins County deputies responded to a report of a possible burglary in progress Thursday afternoon at a residence on State Highway 19 south and arrested a Sulphur Springs woman and an Emory man.

The caller reportedly stated they believed the two subjects on scene were removing items from a structure on the property and got stuck in the mud behind the residence.

Deputies arrived on scene and spoke with the complainants, who are family members of the property owner who was reportedly out of town and did not want to pursue charges. Also with the complainants was Julia Monica Gutierrez, 37, one of the subjects reported. Another subject, found to be Gutierrez’s boyfriend, had also been on the property but had possibly fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival. Andrew Henry Blizzard, 36, reportedly later came back and was taken into custody as well.

Gutierrez reportedly admitted to entering a storage building and removing shovels and a ramp to try to get the vehicle unstuck. She also reportedly advised she removed documents, which were in the suspect vehicle, from the storage building and attempted to get information on the property owner because she was interested in buying the residence. Gutierrez claimed she did not go into the residence in front of the storage building.

Deputies reportedly located a door which showed forced entry to the residence. Gutierrez and Blizzard were taken into custody, and their vehicle was towed to the jail. A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle due to the admission that items involved in the burglary were inside it.

The homeowner, who was above 65 years of age, came to the jail and identified multiple items found in the vehicle had been taken from both the residence and storage building. The documents allegedly taken by the suspects were found to have more than 20 identifying items of information.

The pair were both charged with fraudulent use/possession of identifying information with 10-50 items of an elderly person, burglary of a habitation and burglary of a building.

Bond was set at $155,000 per person, and both remained in jail as of press time Friday, according to reports.
