Traffic stop ends with felony charges
Brandon Ray Timmons, 25, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at 2:10 p.m. Monday during a traffic stop at the intersection of Maxwell and Ardis streets on multiple charges.
Officer Adrian Pruitt reportedly conducted a traffic stop on Timmons, during which Timmons allegedly became argumentative. Pruitt reportedly attempted to conduct a pat down search and observed Timmons to be clutching a plastic baggie in his left hand. Pruitt reportedly gave Timmons several verbal commands to release the baggie, but Timmons allegedly failed to comply and began to physically resist the officer.
Pruitt reportedly used the least amount of force necessary and took Timmons to the ground. Timmons allegedly threw the baggie and continued to resist. Pruitt reportedly recovered the baggie and discovered it allegedly contained suspected methamphetamine, weighing 1.1 gram.
Timmons was charged with possession of 1-4 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and resisting arrest, search or transport. Bond was set at $22,000, and Timmons remained in custody as of press time Tuesday, according to arrest and jail reports.
Jail transfers, other activity
Olegario Cantu Arizmendez, 49, of Sulphur Springs was released from jail Monday on a $30,000 bond. He was arrested April 30 on charges of possession of 4-200 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance and a probation violation on a 2018 charge of burglary of a building, according to jail reports.
Jackson Blaze Gilreath, 23, of Sulphur Springs was released from jail Monday on $70,000 bond. He was arrested March 6 on one count of possession of 28-200 grams of a Penalty Group 3 controlled substance, two counts of possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance and a parole violation, according to jail reports. Ramiro Eliseo Hernandez, 26, of Sulphur Springs was released from jail Monday on a $25,000 bond. He was arrested July 18 on a charge of obstruction or retaliation and surety off bond on a charge of bail jumping and failure to appear, according to jail reports.
Donald Merced Ramirez, 27, of Sulphur Springs was released from jail Monday on a $15,000 bond. He was arrested Sunday on charges of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair and possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, according to jail reports.
Animal complaints
• Two cows still on caller’s property on County Road 1146 at 8:25 a.m. Monday;
• Report of animal neglect or cruelty on County Road 3512 in Mahoney at 9:30 a.m. Monday. A man reported cows looking malnourished. He stated the cows’ ribs are visible and he never sees any hay put out;
• Goats on the eastbound Interstate 30 service road at mile marker 108 at the Cash water tower. The reporting party put the goats up at 4:47 p.m. Monday;
• Black and brown cow on FM 71 west at FM 2285. A woman reported she almost hit the cow at 8:38 p.m. Monday; and
• Four cows on FM 3389 at County Road 1158 at 1:24 a.m. Tuesday.
