Eagles win late over Trenton

COMO — The Como-Pickton Eagles won a 24-23 homecoming football thriller over Trenton. The fans at Ron Heflin Field got to see a game that was decided late with the win going to the home team.

The Eagles are now 3-3 for the season, and Trenton fell to 3-1. Como-Pickton amassed more than 350 yards of total offense on the Tigers.

Caemon Wilburn had a stellar game for the Eagles, rushing for 182 yards on 20 carries with three touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 34 yards.

Braden Miller rushed 11 times for 43 yards in the win, Cameron Ray tallied 41 yards on 11 carries, and Jackson Monk picked up 22 yards on four carries.

Quarterback Jhonathan Mejia scored and ran five times for 14 yards. He also threw seven total passes, completing three for 54 yards with one interception. Miller snagged one pass for 20 yards.

Felipe Marquez was a leader on the defensive unit and recorded 14 tackles, two for losses with one sack. Logan Williams contributed 10 tackles, one for a loss.

Other defensive standouts were: Miller, nine tackles, one interception and one pass broken up; Monk made eight tackles, one for a loss; and Ray and Kade Kaslon added six stops each.

Bruno Estrada had two tackles for losses in the game. The Eagle defense made six tackles for losses in the win.Trenton accounted for 23 points, 333 total yards in the game.

Como-Pickton opens district at Quinlan Boles. Boles is 1-4; they finished out non-district play losing 30-0 to Maud.
