Three Sulphur Springs FFA teams win at San Antonio show

Sunday, Feb. 25, at the San Antonio Agriculture Mechanics Show was one for the books for Sulphur Springs FFA members.

The students worked very hard over the last several months, putting in mang hours building their projects from the ground up.

One group of Sulphur Springs FFA members' work paid off as they had hte Grand Champion Ag Mechanics Project out of 800 projects show. Cash Gamblin, Lane Kerns, and Kohen Moss claimed the top prize with their 40-foot hydraulic dove tail trailer which they spent 1,600 hours building. Their winnings include $20,000 in scholarships and five super welding machines. In addition to bragging rights for winning the grand champion title at a large statewide show, each team member received three trophy buckles and a plaque.

A second SSHS team consisting of LeeRoy Hernandez, Stetson Mullins, and Braddox Rawson won second place in their class with their 24-foot cattle trailer.

The team of Lexie Logan, Cinch Shackelford, Jacob Howell, and Colton Privett also won second in their class with their 12-foot cattle trailer, and brought home prizes as well.

Jayden Arlidge exhibited his truck bed project. He received a red ribbon, which means the project met most standards and expectations, but some improvements could be made in workmanship, design or expression of what he learned making the project.
