Sulphur Springs FFA Beef Heifer team had a great year at the 2024 Ft Worth Stock Show and Rodeo in mid-January.

Coen Bell competed in the Beef Heifer Superintendents Challenge and placed fourth out of 75 to earn an $8,000 scholarship; he also showed his Simmental heife and placed sixth in class.

Kylee Jo Anderson placed fourth in a huge Beefmaster class.

Alli Crump showed her Hereford heifer and placed ninth overall.

Luke Norman also participated in the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Calf Scramble, where he caught a wild calf and had to lead it into the winner's circle. That earned him a $500 certificate to go buy a registered heifer to show at next year's show.

The lamb and goat show team consisting of Chloe Miller, Preslie Brown, Jocelyne Crisamore and Luke Norman showed their lambs and goats; Chloe Miller placed 19th out of 70 lambs in her class.

From the swine show team, Kindall Shackelford placed second in class with her crossbred barrow, which was named the Texas Pork Producers Certified Texas Bred Class Champion. Madison Kellogg, another member of the team, placed third in class with her crossbred Gilt.

Stay tuned for more great things coming from the students in our FFA program.

These students have worked all year long for the major shows and their hard work has paid off tremendously this year.
