The Sulphur Springs School board met in a regular season/budget workshop on Tuesday, June 14.

Personnel was discussed in executive session with the following decisions made.

Summer contracts due to midterm hire date includes : Sean Ditto, SPED/SSMS; Kimberly Chisom, READ 180/SSMS; Jamie Young, English 1/SSHS; Matthew Newton, Peter Medlock and Brett Page, teacher-coaches at SSHS.

New personnel included: Justin Cowart, Asst. Superintendent, Secondary; Katharine Cowart, Innovative Learning Specialists, Elementary.

New at Bowie: Amy Horton, Gr. 1 ELAR/SS; Lucinda Perez, Behavior Intervionist; and Jaldyn Schroeder, Title 1 Aide.

In other news from the meeting, no public forum was requested.

Assistant superintendent Jeremy Lopez, gave a report on summer school activity. He said attendance was good at the school and summer day and athletic camps.

Assistant superintendent Lisa Robinson had comments on the on STAAR and EOC testing. She said that results were preliminary. Some tests in some areas were on paper and being graded.

"We are not losing ground," Robinson said. "We're in a better academic position now that we were in 2019. This is promising and we excited moving forward."

Along with routine matters before the board, the following were approved:

Continuation of Student Accident Insurance with Texas Student Resources/ Health Special Risk,Inc.

Credit by Exam testing dates for 2022-2023 school year and Region 08 ESC Contracts for 2022-2023 school year.

In the budget workshop portion of the meeting Sherry McGraw presented board members with the first draft summary of the 2022-2023 budget.

Another budget work session will be held at the regular July 11, 2022 meeting.
