A 38-year-old Sulphur Springs woman is in custody after attempting to pass allegedly counterfeit currency.

Store employees reportedly called police to the Sulphur Springs Walmart at 5:03 p.m. Saturday, where Katrina Jane Crowson was reportedly found to be in possession of counterfeit currency.

While speaking with officers, Crowson allegedly stated she was in possession of syringes, which were in her purse. Officers reportedly located additional counterfeit United States currency and drug paraphernalia. A black substance believed to be black tar heroin was located. The substance reportedly field-tested positive for heroin.

Crowson was also charged with possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance.

Bond was set at $10,000, and Crowson was released from jail Sunday.
