SS man arrested on child sex abuse following report

Sulphur Springs Police officers arrested a 64-year-old Sulphur Springs man at his residence Wednesday evening on a felony warrant alleging continuous sexual abuse of a child.

A minor under age 14 allegedly reported the abuse to a Sulphur Springs ISD employee. The employee then alerted SSPD and Child Protective Services. Detective Jason Reneau was present for the minor's interview at the Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center.

A warrant was obtained and executed Wednesday night, and Benito Lucio Moreno was located and taken into custody. He remains in custody as of 6 p.m. Thursday, and bond has not been set.
