Garden Club

Lena Day Garden Club met on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the home of Regena Filak. Members were treated to a lovely breakfast casserole, scrumptious pumpkin squares, fruits, cookies and other refreshments.

Everyone enjoyed visiting and was in awe at the collection of intricate wood carvings on display by her husband, Laddie. Filak’s daughters, Janet Martin and Cheryl Blound, helped with the event.

The business meeting was conducted by President Ruth Mary Hall. Roll call, minutes and treasurer's reports were read and approved.

Barb Julian introduced Jill Russell, esthetician. She has a facial therapy center here in Sulphur Springs. Russell demonstrated how certain types of products help keep skin healthy and radiant as we age. She explained the chemistry in plants and flowers that we all have in our own garden.

Members attending were: Thuan Bennett, Pat Burnett, Filak, Wanda Galyean, Judy Gilreath, Mary Groner, Hall, Freddie Hughes, Charlotte Henderson, Julian, Liz Stienziek, Barbara Stewart, Judy Temple, Janette Watson and Carol Worsham.

Next meeting will be Nov. 26.
