North Hopkins set for regional competition

Grilling 

Two North Hopkins high school students competed at the Texas High School BBQ Competition in White Oak Saturday and placed 23rd out of 32 teams.

Cade Kirby and Rylan Sills, or the NH Pit Boys, did well for their first competition, placing ninth in the brisket category, 12th in the dessert category, 14th in the beans category and 17th in the ribs category. A place for the chicken category was not given.

Only the top 10 teams overall advance to the state competition, but according to team sponsor and secondary principal Brian Lowe, the North Hopkins team is aiming to go to the regional competition at Mansfield in March.
