Deputies arrested Landon Dee Harness, 25, of Sulphur Springs at Lowe’s on South Broadway Street at 6:13 p.m. Sunday after verbally threatening his girlfriend.

The girlfriend alleged Harness struck and broke the rearview mirror, along with a section of the windshield, in her vehicle while parked in the Lowe’s parking lot. She further alleged he told her, “It will be bad for you when we get home.” She said she was in fear for her safety and that of her children.

Inside the store, she was able to make contact with an off-duty deputy, making gestures with her mouth to ask for help. Deputies arrived on scene and took Harness into custody.

He was charged with assault by threat. No bond was set, and Harness remained in jail Tuesday.
