Lady Eagles end mid-district in softball play

COMO-PICKTON — Although district play ended mid-season for the Lady Eagles softball competition this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, Como-Pickton Consolidated Independent School District announced this week the player awards.

“Even though it ended short, the district thought it would be a great way to still honor their hard work by giving out awards based on the portion of the season we played,” a statement issued by the school read.

On first team are: Faith Watkins, Jazmine Tapley, Chloe Romero, Mattison Buster and Maci Wright.

Second team includes: Katie Morgan, Summer Gilbreath and Lauren Lewellen.

Those earning honorable mention are: Alyssa Corona, Alayna Chapman and Kara Tifft.

The Lady Eagles’ record for the short season was 14-4, 3-0 in district. There were ranked 12th in the state off-power, and off the record, they were eighth in state.
