The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is hosting training classes to help law enforcement officers further their training this fall.

This Basic County Corrections Class (BCCC) class is hosted by Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office and provided by East Texas Police Academy (ETPA). This class is 120 hours long with a comprehensive state test after completion.

Graduates receive their basic jailer’s license provided by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, the state regulatory agency of jail, communication, and peace officer licenses.

Currently, the class has eight students, all of whom are Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office jailers.

HCSO also offers an ETPA Night Basic Peace Officer Academy (NBPOC) starting Nov. 2. The class is conducted at the local Hopkins County training facilities from Monday to Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with several weekend days required.

Those interested in receiving law enforcement training are asked to contact ETPA at (903) 983-8663 or Chief Investigator Corley Weatherford (903) 558-0028.
