The future is bright for First National Bank of East Texas.

FNBETX broke ground Wednesday for a new masonry structure at 1460 South Hillcrest Street at the corner of Wildcat Way in Sulphur Springs.

A large crowd of bank officials, friends, family and customers were on hand for the ceremony. The bank will continue to operate from a temporary building which has been at the location since Feb. 16, 2023 .

'We feel like we have a good customer base here. We offer some services others don't,' said. Chris Gibbins, Senior Vice President and Location President.

Gibbins said, 'The new building will feature a 5,000 square feet bank building featuring four lane drivethrough and a very large parking lot to accommodate large trucks and vehicles with trailers.'

FNBETX now has 12 East Texas banking locations. The timeline for the building's construction is approximately 12 months depending on weather conditions.
