The Downtown Review Board (DRB) unanimously approved an application for a sign for a new luxury soap store, among other items of business at a Dec. 1 meeting.

After gathering at noon, the group unanimously approved the previous meeting’s minutes.

The group then heard a presentation from Buff City Soap for an application at 217 Main Street. Proprietor Vicky Powell, of the Grapevine company, presented to the DRB that the business is “mainly custom soaps, bath bombs and the like. Kind of like a Bath and Body Works.”

Community Development Director Tory Niewiadomski noted that the business wished to install a 24.77 square foot sign on the building, with additional window signage.

DRB member Tyler Law inquired what the signage would look like. Niewiadomski described the signage as “regular-type signage, the color is what’s called comb-white and another that’s a sort of blue.”

Powell clarified that the color was, in fact, called “Tokyo Green.”

“So it’s more of a green than a blue?” board member Dr. Robin Boshears asked. Powell affirmed the assessment.

With no further questions, the board unanimously voted that the soap business be granted their sign application, provided the business follows any additional guidelines set out by the city.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:14 p.m.
