County Judges and Commissioners from a 22-county district met in Sulphur Springs for the annual Continuing Education Conference.

Extension agents from surrounding counties were on hand to assist with setup, registration, greeting, and facilitation of the event.

Dr. Hurley Miller provided a welcome, followed by Hopkins County Judge Robert Newsom.

Commissioners Mickey Barker, Greg Anglin, Wade Bartley and Joe Price were in attendance according to Newsom.

Topics for the conference, provided by experts in various fields, included Worksite Wellness programs being offered through AgriLife Extension, Working with Texas Department of Emergency Management, Soil Conservation, Team Work/Leadership, Working with Game Wardens on Managing Nuisance Animals, County Right-of-Way Authority, and Legislative Issues Affecting County Government. State Representative Bryan Slaton was on hand to provide a legislative update.

The conference was well-attended, according to Johanna Hicks, Hopkins County Family & Community Health Extension Agent. Many of the issues brought before the group were timely, and thought-provoking.
