Tyler man arrested with drugs and fake urine kit in vehicle

Body

Richie Mason Lopez, 18, of Tyler was arrested during a traffic stoponStateHighway11east at FM 1567 at 8:21 p.m. Friday, March 15. Lopez was stopped for having defective tail lamps and no license plate light. He reportedly gave Hopkins County Deputies Drew Fisher and Isaac Foley permission to search his vehicle, where they located a fake urine kit, used for falsifying drug tests. Lopez was found to be out on bond, which subjects him to random urine analysis.

Deputies also located multiple rounds of ammunition, a violation of Lopez’s bond, as well as a prescription pill bottle containing four pills, two of which matched the label on the bottle. One broken pill was found to match the prescription drug on the label, while two other pills were found to be Adderall, a controlled substance. The remaining pill was found to be buspirone hydrochloride, which is obtained by prescription. Lopez claimed he had a prescription for all the medications, but did not have it with him the night of the stop.

Lopez was taken into custody and transported to the Hopkins County jail, where he was booked on possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 2 controlled substance, possession of a dangerous drug and possession of a drug test falsification device.
