Public meeting scheduled on District Clerk office preservation funding plan

The Hopkins County Commissioners Court will meet Monday for a regular session, which will include the 2019-2020 proposed tax rate, utility easements, a public hearing on the plan for the district clerk’s technology fund, a resolution to combine two volunteer fire departments and recognition of the Cumby Volunteer Fire Department.

The commissioners will also consider and approve an interlocal contract between Hopkins and Lubbock counties.

They will also discuss, approve and schedule two public hearings on the proposed county tax rate for 2019-2020, which will remain the same at 62.4892 cents per $100.

The court will consider a resolution to combine the North Hopkins and South Sulphur Volunteer Fire Departments. The Cumby Volunteer Fire Department will be recognized for its service to Hopkins County.

Commissioners will also conduct a public hearing to consider a plan for to fund the preservation and restoration of the district clerk’s records in response to Texas Senate Bill 1685 (enacted 2009), which calls for the creation of a District Clerk’s Technology Fund.

Regular items on the agenda for court approval are previous meeting minutes; payment of bills, revenues, expenses, payroll and financial statements; any other grants or donations presented; disposal of assets requests; and any resolutions or proclamations presented.

Commissioners court will convene at 9 a.m. Monday in the first floor courtroom of the Hopkins County Courthouse.
