Briefs Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement activity from over the past week included:

March 19

„Police responded to a complaint of trespassing March 19 at 12:30 at a South Broadway Street business. A warning had been issued earlier in the shift. Michael Shane McCormick of Dike was found in the lobby. He claimed to be at the bank to try to activate another debit card, but had been advised earlier in the shift he no longer had an active account there. The 32-yearold was arrested for criminal trespassing.

„Kimberly Beth Martin, 46, of Texarkana was arrested at the Bowie County Detention Center and transported to the Hopkins County jail on a warrant for violating her probation on a charge of possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substanc

„Samuel Tanner Bryant, 27, of Alba was arrested at 1:20 p.m. at the Hopkins County Adult Probation Office on two felony warrants for accident involving injury and stalking. Bond on the stalking charge was set at $250,000, while bond on the accident charge was set at $75,000.

„Mason Dean Gilbert, 24, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at his residence at 4:26 p.m. on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Deputies were at the residence to serve the warrant and took Gilbert into custody. Bond was set at $25,000.

„Jay-D Cavazos, 18, of Como was arrested at his residence at 7:13 p.m. on a warrant for theft of a firearm. Bond was set at $25,000.

„Odis Clint Farrar, 47, of Texarkana was arrested during a traffic stop for a suspicious vehicle on FM 2560 at 10:34 p.m. for expired registration.

March 20

„ Officers responded to a complaint of loud music on Parkins Street at 1:24 a.m. and again at 2:12 a.m. March 20. A citation was issued for loud or unreasonable noise the first time. John Carlo Rodriguez- Cadena refused to turn it down the second time, citing that it was his property that the noise was on. Because of the time of night and multiple complaints, the man was arrested on a charge of unreasonable noise/loud music. The 35-year-old man was then found to have two outstanding no driver’s license warrants too.

„Joshua Caleb Steward was stopped on Interstate 30 east for a traffic stop. A records check showed the 23-year-old Pine Bluff, Arkansas man to have an outstanding Round Rock warrant. He was taken into custody on the criminal mischief warrant at 9:30 p.m. March 20, according to arrest reports.

„ A South Davis Street resident reported a Walther P22 stolen March 20.

March 21

„Logan Deshaune Bailey, 40, of Heartland, Texas was arrested at the Panola County jail at 10:30 a.m. and transported to Hopkins County on a bond forfeiture warrant for a charge of possession of less than 4 grams of a Penalty Group 1/1B controlled substance. Bond was set at $20,000 cash.

March 22

„A 29-year-old Sulphur Springs man was stopped at 11:19 a.m. on South Locust Street for a traffic violation.. Chadrick Marquise Gasaway was arrested on a warrant for failure to maintain financial responsibility.

„James Michael Janway, 40, of Sulphur Springs turned himself in at the Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Office at 5:43 p.m. on a probation violation warrant for a charge of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

„Sulphur Springs police contacted Alleysha Kathleen Miller regarding outstanding warrants. They took the 35-year-old Sulphur Springs woman into custody at 6:37 p.m. March 22 at her residence on Upshur County warrants for abandoning or endangering a child with intent to return-two counts and second offense driving while intoxicated.

„Police talked to a man at the station who advised Heather Nicole Banfill had been harassing him about money she claimed he owes. The matter, police determined, to be a civil matter. He then claimed the Sulphur Springs woman had an active warrant. A records check showed the woman did indeed have an active warrant for her arrest. Police contacted the 35-year-old woman at her residence and arrested her on the Austin Parole warrant for violation of probation on a third-degree felony possession of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance charge.

March 23

„Police responded at a West Industrial Drive gas station, where a man was suspected to be intoxicated. They escorted Morgyn Martin-Paul Morey, who officers noted appeared highly intoxicated out of the store to conduct standard field sobriety tests. The 25-year-old Brashear man refused to perform any tests and, based on his appearance and officers' observations, was arrested at 8:19 p.m. March 23 for public intoxication.

„Victor Ramirez-Hernandez, 26, was arrested at 3:10 p.m. in the area of State Highway 67 and the eastbound Interstate 30 service road in regards to a male subject wearing a Texas Rangers jersey who had walked up to the reporting party’s residence and defecated on the outside of the man’s house. Upon arrival, Deputy Zach Steward located the subject walking out in front of cars on the service road. Steward activated his patrol lights to gain the man’s attention, and the man walked to Steward’s location. Steward noted the man was unsteady on his feet and, once the man was close enough to detect it, had a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. A records check did not return any information on the subject, identified as Ramirez-Hernandez, and he was taken into custody on a public intoxication charge.

„Alvin Anthony Frazier was found during a traffic stop to have outstanding warrants for dog at large, family violence assault, driving while license invalid, speeding and failure to maintain financial responsibility. While being placed under arrest, the 32-yearold Sulphur Springs man reportedly began resisting officers, clenching his fists and pulling his arms away from officers. He was assisted to the ground and put into handcuffs. A canine officer was called to the location and alerted on the Ford F-150. A bag of suspected cocaine and digital scales were found. Frazier allegedly admitted the substance was cocaine and was arrested at 6:47 p.m. on Texas Street, not only on the warrants but a new charge for possession of 1.7 grams of the Penalty Group 1 controlled substance cocaine, and resisting arrest.

„Deputies responded to a report of a possible disturbance on County Road 1170. A possible assault victim and three witnesses met the deputy and stated he had been assaulted by Elijah Don King, 27, of Brashear. Arrest reports note the victim had swelling and bruising to the left side of his face. King came outside and advised officers that the victim had been talking about King’s girlfriend, so King hit him. King was booked into the Hopkins County jail on a third degree felony charge of assault or family violence with a previous conviction.

March 24

„Officers stopped Jacob Wesley Steelman at 1:25 a.m. on Reservoir Street for a traffic violation. Upon contact, police reported the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado had a damaged front end, was smoking and the driver’s side airbag had deployed, with airbag dust still filling the cab of the truck. The 32-year-old Sulphur Springs man admitted to drinking and was confused about where he had been and why, police alleged in arrest reports.. The officers detected an alcohol odor on Steelman, who they also alleged had bloodshot, watery eyes, slow mumbled speech and was unsteady ons feet to the point of swaying while trying to stand still. Steelman was arrested following standard field sobriety tests fro driving while intoxicated.

„Edgar Rocha Palacios, 31, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at an entertainment venue on State Highway 19 north at 1:02 a.m. Deputies were dispatched to the location regarding an intoxicated individual there who had been removed from a concert taking place because he was too intoxicated. Rocha Palacios was arrested for public intoxication after it was determined he was a danger to himself and the public in his condition.

March 25

„Police responded to a crash on Interstate 30 west at mile marker 121 at about 1:34 p.m. Friday. A records check showed two North Richland Hills warrants. Cary Robert Walker hasd a high blood suagar and was transported to the ER. After being cleared the 50-year-old was arrested on felony theft and tampering with governmental documents charges.

„Police responded at 12 p.m. on North Davis Street, where a vehicle was reported to have crashed into a residence. The Chevrolet Traverse which had actually crashed into a tree in the front yard. He had on the sme clothes as the man police had contacted earlier, but was told he was awaitng a ride to Dallas. A short time later, the owners of the SUV arrived and identified it. The car was towed. The 26-year-old Sulphur man was arrested. Later, police it was determined Victor Rmairez-Hernandez had entered a home on Houson Street with intent to steal vehicle keys. The man had been staying at a temporary address; his actual residence is Balch Springs, but he couldn’t remember the address. Ramirez-Hernandez was arrested for unauthorized use of a vehicle and burglary, according to police reoprts.

„Police responded to a Hodge Street residence for a disturbance. Beaux Williams, 17, was arrested at the residence after two witnesses and the alleged victim reported Williams had thrown items at her and assaulted her. The woman had marks on one arm and both sides of her neck. The 17-year-old was arrested on a felony continous family violence assault charge following a prior arrest earlier this year.

„ Burglary of a Ross Street residence was reported. A game console was reported stolen.
