Hopkins County law enforcement activity for the week of Jan. 26-Feb. 2 included:

Friday, Jan. 26 „ Fraudulent use of ID was reported. At least one person was arrested Jan. 26 on East Industrial Drive after being caught with at least 10 pieces of identification belonging to multiple individuals. Talaila Shannea Shavers and Zykeirra Alexis Colbert, both 18, were arrested at 7:35 p.m. for theft from Walmart. Stolen merchandise was allegedly found in the vehicle when they were stopped for suspicion of the alleged theft, according to arrest reports. They was alleged to have passed all points of sale without buying more than $100 worth of merchandise.

„ Arrested for fraud was Tr’ Aquarion Ezekiel Hanger. He was stopped at 9:24 p.m. Jan. 26 on Industrial Drive on Jan. 26. A search revealed the 21-year-old Pascagoula, Miss. resident had a passport with three IDS of three different people other than his in a backpack. He claimed they belong to family members. When shown only the pictures, Hanger didn’t know their correct names. Surmising that Hanger did not know the people on the IDs, he was arrested for fraud.

„ James Wade Turnage was arrested Jan. 26 on South Broadway Street on a Decatur theft warrant. Police responded at the store in reference to a complaint of a male drinking beer in the men’s room. He allegedly admitted drinking while in the restroom, finishing prior to their arrival. The 52-year-old Fort Worth man was escorted out of the store. A records check showed the warrant, police alleged in arrest reports.

„ Deputies located Amanda Rachelle Jones at her Cumby residence at 10:04 p.m. and took the 39-year-old into custody for insufficient bond.

Saturday, Jan. 27 „ Leroy Alvert Flanagan Jr. was arrested at 8:21 p.m. Jan. 27 at a Calvert Street residence on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Police responded to a call for service at an apartment. They saw a glass pipe for marijuana smoking and a grinder. The 55-year-old Sulphur Springs man was taken to jail on the charge.

„ Arrested for theft with two previous convictions was Nikolaus Kayne Ward, a 43-year-old Brashear man, at 10:24 p.m. Jan. 27. He is alleged to have skipped items and put them in a bag, then attempted to leave without paying for the merchandise. He said a female with him had no involvement in the incident; he was taken into custody. A short time later, police learned Ward had previous convictions for theft, enhancing the charge.

Monday, Jan. 29 „ Terroristic threat-interference was reported Jan 29 on Mockingbird Lane.

„ Police responded to calls of an extremely intoxicated person causing a disturbance at the hospital. Staff asked that Sean Richard Morin be removed. The 37-year-old was arrested for public intoxication at 1:34 p.m. Jan. 29.

„ Deputies reported seeing Michael Lyle Gall at a County Road 1127 residence at 9:43 p.m. and took the 36-year-old Sulphur Springs man into custody on a warrant for violation of probation on a possession of a controlled substance charge.The offense was alleged to have occurred on July 8, 2023, according to arrest reports.

„ Matthew Dewayne Nordin, 27, of Alba was arrested at 5:10 p.m. on South Davis Street on one expired registration and driving while license invalid warrant each, and two failure to maintain financial responsibility warrants. He was stopped for a traffic violation. A records check revealed the warrants.

„ Deputies transported Carolyn Denise Brumley from Linda Woodman Unit to Hopkins County jail, where the 42-year-old Sulphur Springs woman was booked in at 4 p.m. on a possession of controlled substance warrant.

Tuesday, Jan. 30 „ Sulphur Springs Police contacted 26-year-old Samuel Tanner Earle of Sulphur Springs at 10:58 p.m. Jan. 30 on a call for service at a South Broadway Street address. He was arrested after a records check showed outstanding warrants for driving while license invalid, failure to maintain financial responsibility and running a red light charges.

Wednesday, Jan. 31 „ When deputies attempted to place Jeffrey Wayne Jones into custody at 2:53 a.m. at his East Industrial Drive residence on a warrant, they noticed something in the man’s shirt pocket. When asked about it, the 58-year-old Sulphur Springs man allegedly turned away from deputies, removed a clear baggy with suspected methamphetamine in it and threw it just inside the apartment door toward his spouse. The contraband was retrieved; it field-tested positive for meth and weighed 2.44 grams resulting in an additional charge for possession of a controlled substance. He was charged on the outstanding charge of bond forfeiture on a possession of controlled substance charge.

Thursday, Feb. 1 „ Arnaldo Rubio was stopped on westbound Interstate 30 near mile marker 122 at 4:07 p.m. for a traffic violation. A records check showed the 27-yearold Buda, Texas man to be wanted in Williamson County on charges of interference with an emergency call and assault causing bodily injury to a family member.

„ Police responded at the Municipal Court for an Order of Commitment. The 22-year-old Dike man had outstanding warrants for theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. Agustin Castillo was jailed on the charges.

„ Tina Gayle Griffey was stopped on Hillcrest Drive at 10:04 a.m. She was arrested on a theft of service warrant.

Friday, Feb. 2

„ Police responded to a complaint of a suspicious person sleeping on Walmart property. A records check showed Christopher Lane Lawson to have a warrant for his arrest. The 64-year-old Emory man was booked into jail on the Smith County criminal trespass with a deadly weapon charge.

„ A Mack semi trailer and truck tractor were reported stolen from 7th Street were later recovered.
