The following reports are based on arrests conducted with reports filed by Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement from 7 a.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Tuesday and included:

Drug-related arrests

■ Jordan McKay, 27, of Sulphur Springs, was arrested Friday 4:49 p.m on a charge of felony possession of a penalty group one controlled substance, as well as a charge for theft of a firearm. During a follow up to a disturbance, McKay reportedly approached officers at the residence. After speaking with McKay, officers allegedly determined that McKay was involved in the disturbance and conducted a pat down for officers safety. McKay was reportedly asked if he had any weapons in his backpack or on his person. McKay allegedly stated that there was a pistol inside his backpack. The officers reportedly located the pistol and removed it from the backpack. Officers allegedly observed the serial number to be defaced and ran the gun through communications to determine if it was stolen. Communications reportedly confirmed the firearm to be stolen out of Greenville. The weapon was secured and McKay was taken into custody. The Chief Investigator was granted permission to search McKay’s pockets and allegedly located a baggy containing a white crystal substance in a hidden compartment of a lighter. All items were secured in a patrol unit and McKay was transported to the jail to be booked. Bond was set at $10,000.

■ Terry Wright, 54, of Sulphur Springs was arrested Sunday 10:46 p.m. on a charge of manufacture or delivery of a penalty group one controlled substance in an amount greater than four grams but less than 200 grams. Deputies reportedly conducted a traffic stop on Wright’s vehicle for a defective license plate light. During the investigation, Wright and the passenger were reportedly showing signs of deception and nervous behavior. The passenger allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana. Wright reportedly denied consent for deputies to search the vehicle. A K-9 unit was requested to the scene. While speaking with Wright, he allegedly admitted to having methamphetamine on his person and in the vehicle. Wright reportedly handing the deputy a black hide-a-key box that contained two baggies of suspected methamphetamine. Deputies allegedly located several more baggies which contained the same substance and field tested positive for methamphetamine. Wright reportedly admitted the narcotics belonged to him and was placed into custody. During a search of the vehicle, deputies allegedly located a set of digital scales, drug paraphernalia and $1,160. The passenger was released from the scene and the vehicle impounded. The total weight of the baggies was 43.74 grams. Bond was not set.

■ Noah Truera, 22, of Garland was arrested Sunday 3:52 p.m. on a charge of possession of a penalty group one controlled substance in an amount less than one gram. A Hopkins county deputy was on duty and dispatched to a call for a reckless driver on I30 eastbound coming into Hopkins county. Dispatch reportedly advised that the vehicle was a Hyundai SUV. The deputy allegedly observed the vehicle passing their location and pulled in behind it. The driver reportedly pulled into a rest area and activated their emergency lights to conduct an investigative spot. The deputy made contact with the occupants and allegedly smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. Truer and the passenger were both asked to exit the vehicle and were placed into handcuffs to be detained. The driver was reportedly identified as Noah Truerea, who allegedly admitted to having a small amount of marijuana in a black bag inside the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and the black bag was reportedly located. Inside the bag, the deputy allegedly located a small plastic baggie contains a white substance believed to be methamphetamine long with a small amount of marijuana just as Truera had stated. Bond was set at $5,000.

Alcoholrelated arrests

■ A Sulphur Springs man, 39, was arrested Saturday 2:39 a.m. on a charge of public intoxication. The man was reportedly observed by a Sulphur Springs officer stumbling across the roadway, slurring his speech and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. The male allegedly advised that he was to intoxicated to be out walking around. The officer reportedly believed the male to be intoxicated to a point of being a danger to himself or others. The man was placed into custody and transported to the jail where he was booked in without incident. Bond was not set.

■ A Sulphur Springs woman, 19, was arrested Sunday 2:15 a.m. on a charge of minor in consumption. A Sulphur Springs officer reportedly stopped the woman who was observed walking on the side of the road. Upon speaking with the woman, the officer allegedly observed slurred speech and the woman appeared unsteady on her feet. The woman reportedly advised that she had multiple alcoholic beverages prior to the officer making contact. The woman allegedly agreed to the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus and was unable to pass the examination. The woman was placed into handcuffs and transported to the jail. Bond was not set.

■ Truman Pope, 61, of Emory, was arrested Saturday 9:00 p.m. on charges of tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair and possession of a penalty group one controlled substance in an amount less than one gram. Pope was reportedly stopped by Hopkins county deputies for a traffic violation. After turning on their emergency overhead lights, deputies allegedly observed a small gray colored object eject from the passenger side of the vehicle. The object landed on the side of the road at the intersection of FM 1567 and FM 2948. One of the deputies reportedly stopped at the intersection to locate the object. During the traffic stop, Pope and the passenger were advised to exit the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted of the vehicle and deputies allegedly found a piece of paper wrapped with tape. After removing the tape, the deputy observed a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Deputies believed that Pope had thrown the object from the drivers side out the passenger window. Pope was arrested on the aforementioned charges and transported to the jail. The passenger was given a courtesy ride to Yantis and the vehicle was impounded. Bond was set at $15,000.

■ A Cedar Hill man, 27, was arrested Sunday 7:32 p.m. on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Sulphur springs police responded to a crash on I30 at mile marker 126. Upon making contact with the subject, the officer reportedly observed the male’s eyes to be bloodshot, words were slurred and the smell of an alcoholic beverage was coming from his breath. When asked to perform the standard field sobriety test, the man allegedly refused. Based on observations, the man was placed under arrest for DWI and placed into handcuffs. The man was secured into a patrol unit and transported to the jail where a warrant was drafted for a specimen of blood. The warrant was completed and signed and the man was transported to CHRISTUS Mother Frances for the blood draw. The man was transported back to the jail where he was booked. Bond was set at $1,000.

Warrants, transfers and other activity

■ Alton Lopez, 30, was transported from Kaufman county to Hopkins county on two Hopkins county warrants for manufacture or delivery of a penalty group one controlled substance. Bond was set at $175,000.

■ Amanda Villanueva, 46, of Oklahoma., was arrested Friday on a Hopkins county warrant for violation of probation on a charge of possession of a penalty group one controlled substance in an amount greater than or equal to four grams. A Crime Stoppers tip reportedly led Commerce Police department to Villanueva’s location and officers took her into custody. A Hopkins county deputy met with Commerce PD at the Hunt and Hopkins County line and took custody of Villanueva. Villanueva was secured into the rear seat of the deputy’s patrol unit and transported to the jail for booking. Bond was denied.

■ A DeSoto woman, 52, was arrested Friday 8:37 a.m. on a Dallas county sheriff ’s office warrant for a charge of assault causes bodily injury. The woman was reportedly stopped for a traffic violation. Officers were allegedly advised of the woman having a warrant for arrest. The warrant was reportedly confirmed and the woman was transported to the jail. Bond was set at $2,000.

• Billy McCormick, 41, of Sulphur Springs, was arrested Saturday 11:32 a.m. at the Adult Probation office and transported to the Hopkins county jail for violation of probation on a charge of felony injury to a child, elderly or disabled person with intent to cause bodily injury. Bond was not set.

■ Trondamion Cleveland, 29, of Sulphur Springs was arrested Sunday 3:25 p.m. on a State of Texas warrant for a parole violation. A Sulphur Springs officer reportedly made contact with Cleveland at the Econolodge and was allegedly aware of the warrant. The officer reportedly confirmed the warrant through communications and placed Cleveland into custody. Bond was not set.

■ Randy McCoy, 64, was arrested Monday 3:05 p.m. on a Hopkins county warrant for violation of probation on a charge of driving while intoxicated, third or more offense. McCoy was reportedly arrested at his residence and transported to the Hopkins county jail without incident. Bond was denied.

■ A Sulphur Springs woman, 45, was arrested Monday 3:44 p.m. on a Sulphur Springs Police Department warrant for a charge of failure to maintain financial responsibility. An officer was reportedly on patrol and conducted a traffic stop on the woman’s vehicle. The officer made contact with the woman who was reportedly the driver. The woman’s identifying information was checked through communications and the warrant was allegedly confirmed. The woman was secured into handcuffs and transported to the jail without incident. Bond was set at $448.50.

■ A Sulphur Springs man, 17, turned himself in Monday 6:30 p.m to the Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Office on a felony warrant for burglary of a habitation The man was booked into jail without incident. Bond was not set.

■ Kenneth Katzenmaier, 38, of Sulphur Springs was arrested Monday 2:49 p.m. on a Texas Department of Criminal Justice Parole Division warrant for parole violation on a charge of burglary of a habitation. Katzenmaier was reportedly arrested after a Sulphur Springs officer conducted a traffic violation on a vehicle that Katzenmaier was the passenger of. Katzenmaier reportedly gave the officer his information voluntarily. A records check was conducted through dispatch and Katzenmaier was shown to have the above active warrant. The warrant was reportedly confirmed and Katzenmaier was placed into custody for transport to the jail. Bond was not set.

Hopkins County communications operators answered 830 non-emergency phone calls, 276 calls for service and 154 emergency calls. From 7 a.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Friday officers filed six offenses and conducted one special patrol, five funeral escorts and 93 traffic stops. 20 people were booked in and 16 people were released from the Hopkins County Jail which held 171 inmates as of 5:30 a.m Tuesday.
