Deputies responded to a report of a stolen firearm and a possibly wanted subject at a Sulphur Springs motel Saturday afternoon and ended up taking two Sulphur Springs women into custody.

Deputies were en route to the motel when they reportedly observed Geneva Mashaell Pearce, 50, the subject with whom they were going to speak, walking down the service road. A computer check revealed Pearce had an active warrant for driving with an expired operator’s license.

Deputies reportedly obtained consent to search Pearce’s motel room, where they allegedly observed a glass pipe used to smoke marijuana in plain view. When informed of their intent to conduct a probable cause search of the room, Pearce reportedly advised she had contraband in a small round container. Upon opening the container, deputies reportedly located a clear plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine. Pearce was arrested and charged with possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance.

A second person in the room, Shaina Cheyanne Fields, 31, was also charged with possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance and a parole violation on a previous possession of a controlled substance charge.

Bond was set at $5,000 each on the possession charge, and both remained in jail Tuesday.
