Hopkins County Genealogical Society will hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at the the HCGS Library inside the Sulphur Springs Public Library at 611 North Davis St in Sulphur Springs. The presentation will be “Finding the Last Slave Owner” with guest speaker Ari Williams, She is a graduate of Louisiana State University and has been actively researching family history since 1998. Williams worked with the esteemed genealogist, Dr. James Rose, for many years on his final project Generations: The WPA Ex-Slave Narrative Database. She is the owner of the genealogical consulting company, Black Genesis. Wilkins also works as a contributor for Proquest’s African American Heritage database.
