On Saturday, Dec. 30, Debbie (Riddle) and Bill Shockey of Sulphur Springs will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.
The pair met in August 1981 at the skating rink, where Debbie worked. They married Dec. 30, 1983, and moved to Alaska, where Bill worked building houses. Debbie graduated high school in 1985.
They welcomed their son, Eric, Nov. 22, 1986, and their daughter, Krystle, Jan. 26, 1990. They have two granddaughters, KayDince Shockey and Laycee Odom.
Bill worked construction until 2015, when he had to retire due to a stroke. Debbie has worked as a home healthcare worker since 1994.
The family will celebrate the Shockeys' 40 years of marriage with a private reception.
