I don’t know how many of you are TV junkies like myself, but I’ve often said to people that I have more useless TV trivia floating around in my head then any human should ever have. If you don’t believe me, at this very moment, I have most of my passwords written down somewhere secure, but I can tell you off the top of my head that Mike Lookingland played Bobby Brady on the Brady Bunch and that Alan Hale Jr., played The Skipper on Gilligan’s Island.

My family loves having me around when we’re playing Trivial Pursuit or some other trivia game, but other than that, I think they believe I may need some help.

I’m 58 years old, so I really fell in love with TV shows during the 70s. To me, those were the greatest shows. All in the Family, Sanford & Son, Chico and the Man, The Jeffersons, just to name a few. My Dad and I had such different tastes in television shows, especially with comedy, but we had one show we could watch together and that was The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts. Man, did we love that show. I remember my 80-year old grandmother would sit and watch Sanford and Son with us and she would just crack up laughing when Fred and Aunt Esther would yell at each other. Oh, and the fact that I know that Lawanda Page played Aunt Esther is also another sign of my apparent mental illness. I can’t remember what I had for lunch two days ago, but I remember that?

I could go on for pages and pages, talking about my love of old TV shows and this was back when we had three or four channels to choose from. I have over 200 channels at my disposal right now and I bet I watch less than ten of them regularly. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Well, if you’re ever playing a trivia game and you need help with an absolutely ridiculous TV question, call me, because sadly, chances are I’ll know the answer.
