Wildcats tie 2-2 with West Mesquite

MESQUITE — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats tied 2-2 on the road against a strong West Mesquite team Tuesday night.

Omar Hernandez scored both goals for the Wildcats — one on a penalty kick and the other coming off an assist from Kevin Yanez. “They are a really good team, as good as any team we will play this year,” Coach Alexi Upton said. “Our kids played incredible defense. So proud of our guys.”

The JV team also played West Mesquite and won 3-0, with goals from Uriel Santacruz, Andrew Garcia and Aubrey Camacho.

Sulphur Springs will play in the Terrell tournament this weekend with games on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. against Kilgore, Friday at 2 p.m. against Hallsville and Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against Seagoville.
