ALBA — The Cumby Trojans were dealt a tough loss Tuesday, losing 11-1 to the Alba-Golden Panthers. Throughout the game, the Panthers outplayed the Trojans at every opportunity and never game them a chance, leading to a disappointing loss.

The first inning set the tone early on, as the Panthers struck first with two runs, taking a 2-0 lead. The Panthers then added four more runs in the second inning, extending their lead to 6-0.

Following a scoreless third inning, the Panthers added another run in the fourth inning, extending their lead to 7-0.

The Trojans would then get on the board in the top of the fifth inning when Jace Evans scored a run, trimming the score to 7-1. But from there, the Panthers scored four unanswered runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, capping off an 11-1 run rule win.

As a team, the Trojans batted 2 for 16 (.125) from the plate. Evans and Matt Liston both tallied one hit each, with Evans scoring the Trojans’ only run.

Chayton Vaughan suffered the loss on the mound. Across 1 2/3 innings, he surrendered six hits, six earned runs, and four walks. Channing Herman then pitched three relief innings, giving up five hits, five earned runs, and two walks.

With the loss, the Trojans dropped to 0-3 in district and 5-8 overall. They resumed action Friday, taking on the Panthers again, this time at Ben K. Green Memorial Park.
