COOPER — The Cumby Trojans were shut out in their season opener against the Cooper Bulldogs, losing 14-0. Throughout the game, the Trojans couldn’t establish any offensive rhythm and struggled on defense, leading to a shutout loss.

The first inning would set the tone for the game, as the Trojans were held scoreless, and the Bulldogs lit up the scoreboard. The Bulldogs held a 5-0 lead after the first inning.

The second inning was more of the same, as the Trojans continued to be held scoreless. The Bulldogs then added three more runs in the bottom of the second inning, extending their lead to 8-0.

The Trojans continued to struggle in the third inning, as their offense was still stagnant. Cooper then scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning, building their lead to 14-0.

The fourth inning didn’t feature any scoring, with both teams playing well on defense. After the Trojans were held scoreless in the top of the fifth inning, the game came to an end, as the Bulldogs handed the Trojans a 14-0 loss.

As a team, the Trojans batted just 2 for 17 (.118) from the plate. Jace Evans and Channing Herman both recorded one hit each. Jayden Evans and Matt Liston were the only other Trojans to reach base, doing so on a walk and a hit by pitch, respectively.

Jace Evans started at pitcher. In his only inning, he gave up six hits, five earned runs, and one walk, notching one strikeout, taking the loss. Jaxon Hudson pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief, surrendering eight earned runs, six hits, and three walks.
