Miller Grove climbs again

Body

The weekly update to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches polls was released Monday. So far this season both the Saltillo Lady Lions and the Saltillo Lions, as well as the Miller Grove Hornets have seen themselves featured in the TABC polls.

SALTILLO LADY LIONS

Of all the local schools, the Saltillo Lady Lions are the ones who have seen the most recognition for their success this season. With a record of 18-3 the Lady Lions remain where they were last week, at No. 5. Entering the final week of their regular season, the Lady Lions have a chance to enter the postseason on a 14-game winning streak.

SALTILLO LIONS

The Saltillo Lions have had a weird relationship with the TABC rankings so far this season. Early in the season when the Lions were struggling to find their rhythm they were ranked in the top 10, but now that they have found their rhythm and are riding a seven-game winning streak the Lions find themselves falling in the rankings. After coming in at No. 12 last week, the 12-7 Lions are No. 13 in this week’s poll. Saltillo has a favorable remaining schedule, however, and will have the chance to climb in the polls before the regular season ends.

MILLER GROVE HORNETS

After spending most of their season looking for a an opportunity to return to the polls, the Miller Grove Hornets have done just that in recent weeks. After entering the polls at No. 25 two weeks ago, the Hornets climbed to No. 23 last week after beating Dodd City who was No. 23 the week before. This week the Hornet have climbed two more spots to No. 21 after falling just short to No. 16 Ector. The Hornets are 14-4 this season and will have one more game against formerly ranked Dodd City.
