Allen racks up 23 digs

The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats suffered another district loss Friday after getting swept by the North Lamar Pantherettes. Though the Lady Wildcats would improve in each set, they weren’t able to keep the game going, as North Lamar swept them for the season.

The first set would be dominated by the Pantherettes, as the Lady Wildcats struggled out of the gate. The Pantherettes cruised their way to a 25-13 win in the first set, establishing the lead.

The next set would see the Lady Wildcats step up their game, as they attempted to keep the game competitive. However, the Pantherettes were able to win the second set 25-19, increasing their lead to 2-0.

The third set was a back and forth battle, as each team played hard and tough all set long. Despite a good fight from the Lady Wildcats, the Pantherettes would edge out a 25-23 win in the third set, completing the sweep.

Tessa Allen finished with 23 digs, two assists, and one ace. Harper Hodges would tally 13 assists, eight digs, one ace, and one kill.

Trinity Jefferson came up with 13 assists, eight kills, eight digs, two aces, and two blocks. Kyra Carter came away with nine digs, four kills, three aces, and one block.

Rainey Johnson finished with eight digs, six kills, one ace, and one block. Lauren Dittrich would total eight digs and one kill.

Mary Taylor tallied six digs, two blocks, and one kill. Kate Monk finished with four kills, three digs, two blocks, and one assist.

Aaliyah Cheatum came up with four kills and one block. Madison Jeter also contributed with three digs and one kill.

With the loss, the Lady Wildcats dropped to 4-3 in district and 19-17 overall. They resumed action Tuesday, traveling to Paris to face off against the Paris Lady Wildcats.
