The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats won their fourth straight game Friday with a 59-21 beat down of the Liberty-Eylau Lady Leopards. The game’s outcome was decided early on, as the Lady Wildcats jumped out to quick lead and never let it go, cruising their way to a win.

Prior to the game, the Lady Wildcats celebrated the careers of their two seniors: Lilly Taylor and Niya Yancy, as this would be their final basketball at Wildcat Gym.

The first quarter set the tone early, as the Lady Wildcats dominated from the start, while the Lady Leopards struggled. The Lady Wildcats held a commanding 11-2 lead at the quarter’s end.

The second quarter would be more of the same, as the Lady Wildcats continued to dominate, while the Lady Leopards still struggled. The Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Leopards 17-2 in the second quarter, increasing their lead to 28-4 going into halftime.

break, the Lady Wildcats continued to play at a high level in the third quarter, as the Lady Leopards had no answers for them. The Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Leopards 22-7 in the third quarter, extending their lead to 50-11.

The fourth quarter saw the Lady Wildcats close the game out, with the outcome all but assured. Though the Lady Leopards outscored the Lady Wildcats 10-9 in the fourth quarter, Sulphur Springs finished off a 59-21 victory.

Codee Roland was the Lady Wildcats’ top scorer with 13 points. Cami Schaack and Tatum Thompson tied for second in points with eight each. Rounding out the scoring was Trinity Jefferson with seven, Kyra Carter, Aaliyah Cheatum, Rainey Johnson, and Yancy with five each, and Kaylee Carter with three.

With the win, the Lady Wildcats improved to 8-1 in district and 27-8 overall. They resumed action Tuesday, traveling to Paris to take on the North Lamar Pantherettes.
