Go 1-2-1 over four games

ROYSE CITY — The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats resumed action this past weekend by competing in the Royse City Tournament. During that span, the Lady Wildcats played four games, going 1-2-1.

In their first game, the Lady Wildcats played the North Garland Lady Raiders. The Lady Wildcats cruised their way to an 18-0 shutout victory in that game.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats batted 8 for 14 (.571) from the plate. Claire Thompson led with two hits, while Allison Frazier, Abbey Goldsmith, KK Montgomery, Reese Ragan, Emerson Thompson, and Tatum Thompson all added one hit each.

Emerson Thompson finished as the leading scorer with three runs. Frazier, Goldsmith, Montgomery, Ragan, Hannah Speed, and Claire Thompson all scored two runs each, while Emily Adamson, Tatum Thompson, and Niya Yancy added one run each.

Goldsmith pitched a no-hitter in the circle, striking out six batters and walking three.

For their second game, the Lady Wildcats played the Carrollton Creekview Lady Mustangs. The Lady Wildcats suffered a 7-2 loss in that game.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats batted 5 for 17 (.294) from the plate. Goldsmith led with two hits, while Montgomery, Ragan, and Anahi Velasquez added one hit each. Goldsmith and Montgomery both scored one run each.

Goldsmith suffered the loss in the circle. Across four innings, she surrendered seven earned runs, six walks, and four hits, managing one strikeout.

In their third game, the Lady Wildcats took on the Canton Eaglettes. The Lady Wildcats lost that game 6-2.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats batted 5 for 15 (.333) from the plate. Brailie Blevins, Speed, Claire Thompson, Emerson Thompson, and Velasquez all recorded one hit each. Speed and Emerson Thompson both scored one run each.

Goldsmith once again took the loss in the circle.

In their fourth and final game, the Lady Widlcats took on the Royse City Lady Bulldogs. The two teams played to a 7-7 tie in that game.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats batted 11 for 23 (.478) from the plate. Speed led the way with three hits. Frazier and Goldsmith added two hits each, while Montgomery, Ragan, Emerson Thompson, and Tatum Thompson all came up with one hit each.

Speed also finished as the leading scorer with two runs. Frazier, Goldsmith, Ragan, Claire Thompson, and Emerson Thompson added one run each.

Yancy pitched the first inning, giving up only one hit. Goldsmith then pitched three relief innings, allowing eight hits, seven earned runs, and two walks, managing one strikeout.

With these results, the Lady Wildcats are now 7-7-2 on the season. They resumed action Tuesday, welcoming the Mabank Lady Panthers to Ladycat Park.
