The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats suffered a tough loss Tuesday, falling 12-2 to the Sherman Lady Bearcats at Ladycat Park. The tone for the game was set early on, as the Lady Bearcats dominated from the start and outplayed Sulphur Springs at most opportunities, leading to a blowout.

The first inning saw the Lady Bearcats get on the board right away with a pair of runs, taking a 2-0 lead. The second inning would be scoreless.

In the third inning, the Lady Bearcats added a trio of runs, increasing their lead to 5-0. Sherman added four more runs in the top of the fourth inning, extending their lead to 9-0.

The Lady Wildcats would finally get on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when Claire Thompson scored a run, cutting the score to 9-1.

The Lady Bearcats added three runs in the top of the fifth inning, increasing their lead to 12-1. Though the Lady Wildcats scored again in the bottom of the fifth inning when Allison Frazier launched a home run, it wasn’t enough to keep the game going, as the Lady Bearcats capped off a 12-2 run-rule win.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats batted just 2 for 17 (.118) from the plate. Frazier and Emerson Thompson both recorded one hit each. Frazier and Claire Thompson both scored one run each.

Abbey Goldsmith suffered the loss in the circle. Across five innings, she allowed 12 runs (six earned), 10 hits, and three walks, managing five strikeouts.

With the loss, the Lady Wildcats dropped to 6-51 on the season. They resumed action Thursday, competing in the Royse City Tournament.
