Hodges tallies 15 assists
TEXARKANA — The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats’ regular season ended on a sour note following a road sweep at the hands of the No. 9 Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks. Though each set would be competitive, the Lady Hawks would out play the Lady Wildcats when it mattered most.
The first set would go back and forth, as each team fought for the early control. In the end, the Lady Hawks would win the first set 25-18, taking the early lead.
The following set was also competitive, as each team continued to play hard. The Lady Hawks would come out on top again, winning 25-16 and increasing their lead to 2-0.
The Lady Wildcats would fight even harder in the third set, as they attempted to keep the game going. However, their efforts were too little, too late, as the Lady Hawks won the third set 25-20, completing the sweep.
Harper Hodges would come up with 15 assists and eight digs. Tessa Allen led in digs with 13, adding two assists and one ace.
Rainey Johnson had a solid performance with 12 digs, seven kills, one ace, and one block. Trinity Jefferson also had a great game with 10 assists, eight kills, eight digs, and one block.
Kaylee Carter recorded five kills and four digs. Kate Monk came up with five kills, one assist, one block, and one dig.
Mary Taylor recorded three kills, three digs, and two blocks. Aaliyah Cheatum finished with three kills, two digs, and one block. Other contributors include Madison Jeter with three digs and Lauren Dittrich with two digs.
With the loss, the Lady Wildcats end the regular season at 6-4 in district and 21-18 overall, placing third in District 15-4A. Pleasant Grove, meanwhile, capped off an undefeated district season, going 10-0. The Lady Wildcats will now focus their attention to the upcoming playoffs.
