Lady Wildcats do well in tournament

Go 4-1 across five games

MOUNT PLEASANT — The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats continued their season this past weekend by competing in the Mount Pleasant Tournament. During that time, the Lady Wildcats won four of the five games they played.

In their first contest, the Lady Wildcats played the Hooks Lady Hornets. The Lady Wildcats would come away with a 3-1 win in that game.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats batted 8 for 24 (.333) from the plate. Jadyn Harper was the top hitter with two hits, while Bayler Boatman, Abbey Goldsmith, KK Montgomery, Reese Ragan, Emerson Thompson, and Anahi Velasquez added one hit each. Nicole Higgins, Montgomery, and Ragan all scored one run each.

Crimson Bryant picked up the win in the circle. Across four innings, she struck out 11 batters and only walked one. In two relief innings, Gracie Adair recorded three strikeouts, only conceding five hits, two walks, and one earned run.

For their second game, the Lady Wildcats played the Rains Lady Wildcats. In a low-scoring battle, Sulphur Springs escaped with a 1-0 victory.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats batted just 2 for 19 (.105) from the plate. Adair and Higgins both record one hit, and Higgins scored the walk-off run to win the game.

Bryant would pitch a three-hit shutout in the circle, striking out eight batters and only walking three.

In their third game, the Lady Wildcats took on the Prairiland Lady Patriots. Unfortunately, the Lady Wildcats would suffer their first loss of the season, losing 5-0.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats batted 4 for 20 (.200) from the plate. Emily Adamson, Higgins, Ragan, and Thompson all recorded one hit each.

Adair took the loss in the circle. Across 5 2/3 innings, she gave up 10 hits, five runs, four earned runs, and four walks, recording four strikeouts.

For their fourth game, the Lady Wildcats played the Farmersville Lady Farmers. The Lady Wildcats rebounded nicely with a 13-0 win.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats batted 14 for 33 (.424) from the plate. Thompson led the way, going a perfect 4/4. Bryant, Boatman, Harper, and Ragan all finished with two hits, and Adair and Montgomery added one hit each.

Higgins would score four runs. Montgomery scored two, while Adair, Bryant, Boatman, Goldsmith, Harper, Ragan, and Thompson all scored one run each.

Bryant pitched a twohit shutout in the circle, striking out 10 batters and only walking one.

For their final game, the Lady Wildcats took on the host team, the Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers. The Lady Wildcats picked up another win, beating the Lady Tigers 8-2.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats batted 11 for 24 (.458) from the plate. Adair, Bryant, Harper, and Ragan all record two hits each, while Boatman, Higgins, and Montgomery added one hit each.

Boatman and Harper were the leading scorers with two runs each, with Adair, Higgins, Karis Mc-Gary, and Ragan scoring one run each.

Bryant threw a no-hitter in the circle. Across five innings, she recorded 11 strikeouts, only allowing five walks and two earned runs.

With these results, the Lady Wildcats are up to 11-1 on the season. They resume action Tuesday, when they travel to Sherman to take on the Sherman Lady Bearcats.
