BIRTHRIGHT — The North Hopkins Lady Panthers suffered their fifth consecutive loss Friday with a 49-34 loss at the hands of the Fruitvale Lady Bobcats at W.S. Long Gymnasium. Despite a fast start, the Lady Panthers couldn’t sustain it, allowing the Lady Bobcats to take the win.

The Lady Panthers would jump out to a 3-0 lead after Hadlee Hrabal, Harley Vaughn, and Jaydee Bryant all made a free throw each. The Lady Bobcats responded with a two-pointer and free throw, tying the score at 3-3.

This would be followed by Sara Attaway making a pair of free throws, Mariana Aguilar making a free throw, and Hrabal making a two-pointer, as the Lady Panthers pulled ahead 8-3. Following a three-pointer from the Lady Bobcats, Attaway would make another free throw, bringing the score to 9-6. Fruitvale would add one more free throw as the first quarter ended, bringing the score to 9-7.

The second quarter started with Hrabal making a free throw, making the score 10-7. Following a two-pointer from the Lady Bobcats, Vaughn would make a pair of free throws, and Hrabal made another free throw, extending their lead to 13-9.

From there, the Lady Bobcats scored seven straight points on a trio of two-pointers and a free throw, pulling ahead 16-13. Attaway would then make a two-pointer to trim the score to 16-15.

The Lady Bobcats would then score eight straight points on a trio of two-pointers and pair of free throws, building their lead to 23-15. After Bryant made a two-pointer, the Lady Bobcats closed out the second quarter with a three-pointer, building their lead to 26-17 going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Lady Panthers would start the third quarter with two-pointers from Bryant and Vaughn, trimming the score to 26-21. After a Fruitvale three-pointer, Bryant made another two-pointer, trimming the score to 29-23.

This would be followed by the Lady Bobcats scoring nine straight points on a pair of three-pointers, a two-pointer, and a free throw to close out the third quarter, as they built their lead to 38-29 as the third quarter ended.

The fourth quarter began with Daylee Fite drilling a three-pointer, trimming the score to 38-32. The Lady Bobcats responded with seven straight points on a pair of two-pointers and a three-pointer, building the score to 45-32.

The Lady Panthers scored again on a pair of free throws from Hrabal and a two-pointer from Vaughn, bringing the score to 45-36. The Lady Bobcats then made a pair of two-pointers. The game closed out with Steven Buchanan and Attaway both making two-pointers, as the Lady Bobcats closed out a 49-34 win.

Four Lady Panthers - Attaway, Bryant, Hrabal, and Vaughn - shared the title of leading scorer with seven points a piece. Rounding out the scoring was Fite with three, Buchanan with two, and Aguilar with one.

With the loss, the Lady Panthers dropped to 0-4 in district play and 9-12 overall. They will look to rebound Tuesday, when they welcome the Alba-Golden Lady Panthers to W.S. Long Gymnasium.
