Comeback attempt falls short
BIRTHRIGHT — The North Hopkins Lady Panthers suffered their fourth consecutive loss last Wednesday with a 50-43 defeat at the hands of the Rivercrest Lady Rebels. Despite playing close for most of the game, the Lady Rebels ran away with the game in the fourth quarter, handing the Lady Panthers a loss.
The first quarter saw the Lady Rebels jump out to a quick lead, while the Lady Panthers struggled. The Lady Rebels held a 2613 lead at the end of the quarter.
The second quarter saw the Lady Panthers step up their game, as they tried to fight back. The Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Rebels 11-8 in the second quarter, trimming Rivercrest’s lead to 34-24 going into halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Lady Panthers took their game to another level, as they continued to fight back. The Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Rebels 13-4 in the third quarter, cutting Rivercrest’s lead to 38-37.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Rebels caught fire, as the Lady Panthers couldn’t keep up. The Lady Rebels outscored the Lady Panthers 12-6 in the final quarter, hanging on for a 50-43 victory.
Hadlee Hrabal finished with 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Daylee Fite recorded three points, one assist, and one steal.
Sarah Attaway also contributed with two points, four rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal.
With the loss, the Lady Panthers dropped to 9-12 on the season. They resumed action Tuesday, welcoming the Boles Lady Hornets to W.S. Long Gymnasium.
