Lady Panthers fall against Boles, 55-43

Fite, Hrabal score double-digits

BIRTHRIGHT — The North Hopkins Lady Panthers dropped their sixth straight game Tuesday with a 55-43 home loss to the Boles Lady Hornets. Despite playing close for the majority of the game, the Lady Panthers were outplayed in the fourth quarter, leading to a disappointing loss.

The first quarter saw the Lady Panthers strike first with two-pointers from Jaydee Bryant and Hadlee Hrabal, giving them a 4-0 lead. Following a Lady Hornets two-pointer, Eden Lewis scored a two-pointer, raising the score to 6-2.

The Lady Hornets then scored on a pair of two-pointers, tying the score at 6-6. After a Lewis free throw, the Lady Hornets scored a pair of two-pointers, pulling ahead 10-7.

Bryant then made a two-pointer to cut the score to 10-9. After a Lady Hornets two-pointer, Daylee Fite would sink a three-pointer at the buzzer, tying the score at 12-12 as the first quarter ended.

The second quarter began with Macey Hoelscher scoring on a two-pointer, giving the Lady Panthers a 14-12 lead. The Lady Hornets would make a free throw and two-pointer to pull ahead 15-14.

A two-pointer by Cadence Money put the Lady Panthers back on top at 16-15. From there, the Lady Hornets scored six straight points on a pair of two-pointers and a pair of free throws, as they pulled ahead 21-16.

The Lady Panthers ended the second quarter with a three-pointer from Fite and a two-pointer from Bryant, tying the score at 21-21 going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Lady Hornets opened the third quarter with a two-pointer. The Lady Panthers answered with a two-pointer by Hrabal, tying the score at 23-23.

The Lady Hornets then scored on a pair of free throws and a two-pointer. A three-pointer by Lucy Conner cut the score to 27-26.

Boles responded with a pair of two-pointers and a free throw, increasing their lead to 32-26. A pair of free throws from Fite and a two-pointer by Hoelscher would trim the score to 32-30.

The Lady Hornets then made a pair of free throws and a three-pointer, making the score 37-30. A three-pointer from Fite then cut the score to 3733.

After Boles scored on a three-pointer and free throw, the Lady Panthers closed out the third quarter with a pair of free throws and a two-pointer from Hrabal, cutting the score to 41-37 as the third quarter ended.

The fourth quarter opened with Boles scoring 10 straight points, as they increased their lead to 51-37. The Lady Panthers then scored on a two-pointer from Bryant, and free throws from Lewis and Sarah Attaway, cutting the score to 51-41.

Boles then made a pair of two-pointers, increasing their lead to 55-41. Hrabal scored the last points of the game on a two-pointer, but it wasn’t enough, as Boles polished off a 55-43 win.

Fite was the Lady Panthers’ leading scorer with 11 points. Hrabal was right behind with 10. Rounding out the scoring was Bryant with eight, Hoelscher and Lewis with four each, Conner with three, Money with two, and Attaway with one.

With the loss, the Lady Panthers fell to 0-3 in district and 9-14 overall. They resumed action Friday, traveling to Fruitvale to take on the Fruitvale Lady Bobcats.
