Garcia records double-double
COMO — The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles added another win to their win column Tuesday with a home sweep against the Boles Lady Hornets. Throughout the game, the Lady Eagles dominated and never wavered, leading to the sweep.
The first set would set the tone for the entire game, as the Lady Eagles played hard and tough, while the Lady Hornets struggled. The Lady Eagles would win the first set 25-14, establishing the early lead.
The following set would be more of the same, as the Lady Eagles continued their dominant gameplay, while the Lady Hornets continued to struggle. The Eagles would win the second set 25-11, increasing their lead to 2-0.
The third set would see the Lady Eagles continue to play hard, as the Lady Hornets simply had no answers for them. The Lady Eagles would win the third set 2511, ending the game and completing the sweep.
Mhia Garcia, who filled in at setter for the injured Bella Romero, recorded a 24-assist, 10-dig double- double, also coming up with four aces and two kills. Maggie Brown also had double-digit digs with 10, adding one assist.
Addi Monk led the way in kills in 10, also coming up with six digs, two aces, and one assist. Sadie Wetzel finished with nine kills, three assists, two digs, and one block.
Sanay Diaz came away with eight digs and one ace. Saylor Smith tallied seven kills, two aces, two digs, and one block.
Paisley Watkins came up with seven digs and four aces. Rhayne Thomas finished with seven kills and two digs. Maud Poortvliet also contributed with one dig, one block, and one kill.
With the win, the Lady Eagles improved to 7-1 in district and 25-11 overall. They resumed action Friday, traveling to Cumby to face off against the Cumby Lady Trojans.
