COMO-PICKTON - The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles played host to Quinlan Boles Friday for their first in a pair of district matches this season. The Lady Eagles came into the day looking to slow Boles down, who has been on a hot streak as of late.

The opening set did not go the Lady Eagles way, having to call a timeout as they got behind 10-1 to start things off. Como-Pickton was able to turn things up a notch in the back half of the set, getting some momentum thanks to a pair of aces from Addison Monk.

Como-Pickton closed the set out strong, cutting the deficit in half. A big block from Chelsey Osborne helped them get the score as close as 25-13.

With momentum on their side, the Lady Eagles started the second set much stronger, scoring on the first four possessions. A block from Mattison Buster and an ace from Osborne set the tone immediately.

Things stayed close for a majority of the set, as the Lady Eagles built a 14-11 lead for themselves. An ace from Osborne and a kill from Buster were their final points of the set, as Boles went on a 14-1 run to take the set 25-15.

The third and final set of the night was by far the closest, as Como-Pickton was able to keep things close the entire way. A kill from Monk tied the game up at 5-5, and the Lady Eagles kept things tied as late as 11-11.

Though Boles was able to create some separation, the Lady Eagles were still within two points as late as 18-16. Boles went on to win the set 25-18, but Como-Pickton stayed within reach the entire set.

The Lady Eagles return home Friday to face yet another tough district opponent, the Cumby Lady Trojans. The varsity teams will meet first at 4:30 p.m. with the junior varsity to follow.
