Lady Eagles lose in 4 sets on the road

BOGATA—The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles traveled to Bogata to take on Rivercrest in a non-district matchup Friday. The Lady Eagles’ last victory came Friday, Aug. 28 at home against Avery.

Rivercrest opened the match with a dominating 25-10 win in the first set. Como-Pickton was able to play them closer in the second set but still fell, 25-15.

Looking to avoid being swept, the Lady Eagles played a great third set and were able to pull it out, 25-23. Rivercrest took over agin in the fourth set, however, and put them game away, 25-15, to give them the 3-1 win for the game.

Rivercest junior Caylin Williams led the way for her team offensively, finishing with nine kills and eight ace serves. Williams also had 10 digs in the 3-1 win.

Fellow junior Lauren Hardman was right behind her with eight kills and nine digs. Rylie Huddleston led the game with 16 digs in the match. Behind her were Mckenzie Walton with 12 digs and Avery Martin with 10 digs.

Como-Pickton’s next game will be on Friday at home against Fruitvale. It will be the district opener for the Lady Eagles. The varsity will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the junior varsity to follow. They finish non-district play with a 2-7 record.
