Lady Bears pick up district win on the road Friday

Stanley records 12 kills, 5 blocks

BOGATA—The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears traveled to Bogata Friday for a district match against Rivercrest. The two teams met earlier this season on Tuesday, Sept. 8 when Rivercrest pulled out a 3-2 win at Sulphur Bluff.

The Lady Bears got the advantage early, pulling out a 27-25 win in the opening set. They were able to keep that momentum going, taking the next two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-21 for the three-set sweep.

Skylar Stanley paced the team offensively, leading the team both with 12 blocks and five kills. Setting her up was Alley Collet, who had 18 assists, five kills and four digs, and Tayor Wallis. Wallis had 12 assists, eight digs and three aces.

Defensively, Sulphur Bluff was led by Lydia Drummond who had 10 digs in the 3-0. Just behind her were Tori Raine and Bailey Neal. Raine had nine digs, six kills, three aces and a pair of assists, while Neal had nine digs and one ace.

Other notables for the Lady Bears were Allie Eason, Dacee Howse, Jada Wade and Molly Kelley. Eason finished the game with six kills, three digs and a block. Howse had a one dig, one block and a pair of digs. Wade provided four kills, three blocks and two digs, while Kelley had six digs, one assist and an ace.

The Lady Bears will return home Friday for a district match against Maud. The junior varsity will being at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity to follow.
