SULPHUR BLUFF — The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears were dealt another blemish to their record last Tuesday following an 18-1 home loss to the Rivercrest Lady Rebels. Throughout the game, the Lady Bears were outplayed at many opportunities and couldn’t establish any rhythm, leading to the loss.

The first inning saw the Lady Rebels establish an early lead right away, taking a 2-0 lead. Rivercrest then added two more runs in the second inning to extend their lead to 4-0.

Following a scoreless third inning, the Lady Rebels added three runs in the top of the fourth inning, bringing the score to 7-0. The Lady Bears finally got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when Emma Carr scored a run, cutting the score to 7-1.

The Lady Rebels would add two more runs in the fifth inning to make the score 9-1. Rivercrest would then add nine runs in the sixth inning to run away with the win, handing the Lady Bears an 18-1 loss.

The Lady Bears failed to record a hit, being the victim of a no-hitter. Emma Carr, Emma Neal, Dylan Strain would all reach base on errors, and Carr scored the Lady Bears’ only run.

Neal suffered the loss in the circle. Across 5 2/3 innings, she surrendered 15 runs (11 earned), 12 hits, and five walks, managing three strikeouts. Strain pitched 1/3 of an inning in relief, allowing three earned runs and one walk.

With the loss, the Lady Bears fell to 1-11 on the season. They resumed action Tuesday, traveling to Saltillo to face off against the Saltillo Lady Lions.
