MILLER GROVE — The Miller Grove Hornets resumed play this past weekend by hosting the Miller Grove and Leonard Tournament. Unfortunately for the Hornets, they failed to record a win, losing all three of their games.

For their first game, the Hornets took on the Ector Eagles. The Eagles dealt the Hornets a 13-4 loss in that game.

As a team, the Hornets batter 6 for 25 (.240) from the plate. Ethan George led with two hits, while Eastin Christian, Cage Hasten, Kaden Hiller, and Jesse Yates added one hit each.

Mason Clements, Hasten, Hiller, and Yates scored one run each.

George suffered the loss on the mound. Across 4 1/3 innings, he conceded 11 hits and 10 runs (three earned), managing two strikeouts. Yates pitched the final 2 2/3 innings in relief, allowing three hits, three runs (two earned), and two walks, managing two strikeouts.

In their second game, the Hornets played the Tom Bean Tomcats. The Hornets were shut out 18-0 in that game.

The Hornets failed to record a hit during the game, being the victim of a no-hitter. Clements and Drew Lester were the only players to reach base, doing so on walks.

Christian suffered the loss on the mound. In three innings, he surrendered 11 hits, 10 runs (nine earned), and one walk. Lester pitched the final inning, giving up eight earned runs, six hits, and one walk, managing two strikeouts.

For their final game, the Hornets played Tom Bean again. Once again, the Tomcats shut out the Hornets, this time 23-0.

As a team, the Hornets batted just 1 for 6 (.167) from the plate. Yates was the only Hornet to record a hit.

Clements suffered the loss on the mound. In only 1/3 of an inning, he allowed 14 earned runs, 10 hits, and four walks.

Yates pitched one inning in relief, giving up eight earned runs, seven hits, and one walk, notching one strikeout. Iissac Hansen made a pitching appearance, but failed to record an out, allowing four walks and one earned runs.

With these losses the Hornets dropped to 0-9 on the season. They will be back in action March 19, when they travel to Como to take on the Como-Pickton Eagles.
