Wildcats beat L-E 12-0

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats began the second half of district strong Tuesday with a 12-0 shut out win over the Liberty-Eylau Leopards at Gerald Prim Stadium. The Wildcats would dominate early and never took their foot off the gas, leading to the win.

The first half saw the Wildcats score seven goals, making their presence felt early. JJ Gomez scored the first goal off an assist from Ernesto Alvarez. Soon after, Jimmy Garcia scored a goal off an assist from Alvarez, bringing the score to 2-0.

Matthew Brito scored the third goal for the Wildcats. Gael Garcia scored the fourth goal off an assist from Juan Santacruz, making the score 4-0.

Gael Garcia would score the fifth goal, his second of the game, off an assist from Michael Rodriguez to make the score 5-0. Ezekiel Hernandez scored the sixth goal off an assist from Santacruz to bring the score to

6-0.

The Wildcats’ seventh goal would be scored by Gael Garcia, giving him a hat trick. Sulphur Springs led 7-0 at halftime.

In the second half, the Wildcats added five more goals. Their eighth goal was scored by Eric Rodriguez, who was assisted by Alvarez. Soon after, Brito scored the Wildcats’ ninth goal, his second, to raise the score to 9-0.

Daniel Rodriguez scored the Wildcats’ 10th goal off an assist from Brandon Tavera. Soon after, Nicholas Braddy scored Sulphur Springs’ 11th goal, raising the score to 11-0. Hernandez capped off the scoring with the 12th and final goal, as the Wildcats capped off a 12-0 victory.

Gael Garcia was the leading goal scorer with three goals. Brito and Hernandez added two goals each, while Brady, Jimmy Garcia, Gomez, Daniel Rodriguez, and Eric Rodriguez added one goal each.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 6-1 in district and 10-4-6 overll. They resumed action Friday, traveling to Texarkana to face off against the Pleasant Grove Hawks.
