Eagles suffer loss to Alba-Golden, 11-3

C-P’s losing streak extends to three games

ALBA — The Como-Pickton Eagles suffered their third consecutive loss Thursday after losing 11-3 to the Alba- Golden Panthers on the roads. Despite playing close early on, the Eagles couldn’t gain the upper hand, leading to another tough loss.

The first inning was scorelsss, as both defenses played well and limited the offenses. The second inning was more of the same, each team continued to struggle putting the ball into play.

The Eagles would take the lead in the top of the third inning when Cade Childress scored on a steal of home, giving them a 1-0 lead. The Panthers answered with a run in the bottom of the third inning, tying the score at 1-1.

The Panthers added two more runs in the fourth inning, extending their lead to 3-1. Another pair of runs in the fifth inning raised their lead to 5-1.

The Eagles tried to fight back, scoring again in the top of the sixth inning. Childress and Tucker LeCroy scored, cutting the deficit to 5-3. The Panthers would respond with six more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, raising their lead to 11-3.

After the Eagles were held scoreless in the top of the seventh inning, the game ended, as the Eagles suffered an 11-3 loss.

As a team, the Eagles batted 4 for 24 (.167) from the plate. Childress, Payton Hunt, Joel Newsom, and Kobie Wright all tallied one hit each.

Childress was the leading scorer with two runs, while LeCroy added one run.

LeCroy suffered the loss on the mound. Across 4 1/3 innings, he allowed six hits, five runs (four earned), and three walks, tallying three strikeouts.

Sean Carpenter pitcher 1 1/3 innings in relief, allowing five earned runs and two hits, managing two strikeouts.

Childress made a relief appearance, but failed to record an out, allowing a hit and a walk. Hunt pitched the final 1/3 of an inning, recording a strikeout.

With the loss, the Eagles dropped to 4-1 in district and 9-10-1 overall. They resumed action Friday, playing Alba-Golden again, this time at War Eagle Field.
