WACO — The Trojans rolled to a 52-6 victory Friday, Oct. 18 over Texas Wind Academy in a non-district football contest.

The Cumby squad advanced to 5-3 on the season after the victory in Waco.

“The long drive down took us a little bit to get started, but we took off after that. We were up 46-6 at the half. Colby Lindsey intercepted a pass and ran it in for a 73-yard touchdown in the the second half,” said Tom Dracos, Cumby head football coach.

Cameron Scott paced the offensive attack with 169 yards rushing on eight carries, scoring four times. Jacob Demidio ran for two scores and 57 yards. Other backs contributing were Antonio Arellano, Max Wippler, Keagan McCullom, Trenton Wood and Logan Butler. Cristian Vizcaya and Fabian Camargo scored 2-point conversions.

Scott threw 10 passes, completing two for one touchdown. Porter caught a 38-yard scoring pass, and Wippler snagged one pass for seven yards.

On the defensive side, Lindsey picked off two passes, scored once and recorded six stops. Wood and Kyle Thomas also had six tackles each; Tyler Kirby had five tackles and Dakota Ridings turned in four total tackles.

“It was great to play a game. We filled the open spot in our schedule since Campbell decided not to play 11-man football this year. We got to experience what it is like to travel a far distance for a game which will prepare us for the Era game and the playoffs,” Dracos said.

The Trojans are idle this week. They return to play Nov. 1 at home against Tioga in a contest set for 7:30 p.m. at Frazier-Lawrence Field.
