All teams do well

Three Hopkins County Schools - Como-Pickton, Cumby, and North Hopkins - recently competed in the District 15-2A track meet Wednesday and Thursday. Each team experienced various success in multiple events.

COMO-PICKTON EAGLES

The Como-Pickton Eagles earned third place at the District 15-2A track meet.

In the field events, the Eagles had three athletes place in the shot put throw, as Klain Thomas placed first, Jovany Tellez earned third, and Hayden Potts took fourth. Three athletes also placed in the discus throw, as Thomas placed first, Potts placed second, and Tellez earned fourth.

Braxton Andrews would take home sixth place in the long jump.

In the track events, Kevin Hernandez grabbed sixth place in the 100-meter dash. Ian Rodgers would take home first place in the 200-meter dash. Giovanni Munoz placed third in the 800-meter dash.

Two Eagles would place in the 1,600-meter run, as Munoz placed fourth and Casey Neal placed sixth. Two Eagles also placed in the 3,200-meter run, with Koalton Burkhart placed fourth and Neal placed fifth.

The 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of Giovanni Garcia, Christian Gilbreath, Jermaine Gutierrez, and Hernandez placed fifth. The 4x200-meter relay team, consisting of Johnny Gallegos, Garcia, Hernandez, and Rodgers placed third. Rounding out the results, the 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Alex Estrada, Gallegos, Garcia, and Rodgers placed fifth.

COMO-PICKTON LADY EAGLES

The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles won the district championship at the District 15-2A track meet.

In the field events, Mattison Buster earned two top-three finishes, earning second place in the discus throw and third place in the shot put throw. Brittany Quinonez placed sixth in the shot put throw.

Two Lady Eagles placed in the triple jump, as Yarley Tellez placed second and Ana Gomez-Tovar placed fifth. Brenna Patrick placed second in the high jump. Two Lady Eagles also placed in the pole vault, as Baylee Bowen placed second and Ellee Mertes placed third.

In the track events, two Lady Eagles placed in the 100-meter dash, as Patrick placed fifth and Tellez earned sixth. Two Lady Eagles also placed in the 400-meter dash, as K’Lara Skidmore earned fourth and Katie Tifft earned sixth. In the 800-meter dash, Bailey Neal placed first and Skidmore placed fifth.

In the 1,600-meter run, Neal earned second and Annie Franklin took home fifth. In the 3,200-meter run, Neal took home first place.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Bowen placed second and Gomez-Tover placed sixth. In the 300-meter hurdles, Bowen placed first and Gomez-Tovar placed fourth.

The 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of Itzel Martinez, Patrick, Skidmore, and Tellez placed second. The 4x200-meter relay team, consisting of Daniela Castro, Sanay Diaz, Mackenzie May, and Sandra Tran placed third. Rounding out the results, the 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Bowen, Castro, Skidmore, and Tifft placed fourth.

CUMBY TROJANS

The Cumby Trojans placed fifth at the District 15-2A track meet.

In the field events, two Trojans placed in the shot put throw, as Logan Butler placed second and Colt Talley placed fifth. Talley also earned fifth placed in the discus throw. Cristian Vizcaya earned fourth place in the long jump. In the triple jump, Butler placed second and Chett Vaughn placed fifth.

In the track events, two Trojans placed in the 100-meter dash, as Jaden Basham placed third and Justin Demidio placed fourth. In the 200-meter dash, Armando Orosnio placed second and Vizcaya placed fourth. In the 800-meter dash, Clay Krotky placed second and Vaughn placed fourth.

The 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of Basham, Demidio, Orosnio, and Vizcaya placed third. Rounding out the results was the 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Fabian Camargo, Jackson Evans, Caylor Hoops, and Dakota Ridings placing fifth.

CUMBY LADY TROJANS

The Cumby Lady Trojans took home second place at the District 15-2A track meet.

In the field events, top honors were taken by Neely Hammond, who won first place in the discus throw, qualifying for Area. Hammond also earned fourth place in the shot put throw, qualifying for Area in that event as well.

Macie Morales took home third place in both the long jump and triple jump. Ashlyn Hudson placed fourth in the same events. Both of them qualified for Area in both events. Jacie Morales placed sixth in triple jump. In the track events,

In the track events, Macie Morales took top honors by winning first in the 1,600-meter run. Melissa Rogel won third in the same event. Both of them qualified for Area.

Hudson would place second in the 200-meter dash, advancing to Area. In the 800-meter run, Lilly Campbell placed second and Rogel placed fourth, as both of them advanced to Area.

In the 3,200-meter run, Rogel took second, Julia Hernandez placed third, and Jailyn Dixon earned fourth. All three of them advanced to Area.

The 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of Kaylee Bloyed, Hammond, Azlyn Hornsby, and Jacie Morales qualified for Area with a fourth place finish.

The 4x200-meter relay team, consisting of Campbell, Hudson, Macie Morales, and Erin Morgan earned second, qualifying for Area.

To round out the results, the 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Campbell, Hudson, Macie Morales, and Erin Morgan placed third, advancing to Area.

NORTH HOPKINS PANTHERS

The North Hopkins Panthers placed sixth at the District 15-2A track meet.

Top honors were taken by Jonathan Hatley, who earned first place in the 1,600-meter run. He also earned sixth place in the 400-meter dash. Juan Gonzalez placed second in the 3,200-meter run.

NORTH HOPKINS LADY PANTHERS

The North Hopkins Lady Panthers placed sixth at the District 15-2A track meet.

In the discus throw, Sarah Attaway took home third place. Sailan Adair took home fourth place in the 100-meter dash and sixth place in the 200-meter dash. Kaitlyn Meyers placed third in the 400-meter dash.

In the 800-meter dash, Morgan Burnett placed third and Evie Fuentes-Perry placed sixth. Burnett also earned fourth in the 1,600-meter run.

To round out the results, the 4x200-meter relay team, consisting of Adair, Marianna Aguilar, Myers, and Mattie Pogue placed first.

Athletes and teams who placed first through third in their event will compete in the Area track meet Wednesday, which will be held a Cooper High School.
