ALBUQUERQUE, N. M. — Texas A&M University-Commerce women's track & field student-athlete Kiara Brown finished seventh in the 60 meter dash at the USA Track & Field Indoor National Championships on Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Brown ran a time of 7.28 seconds in the preliminary race to qualify for the finals. That time is her new personal best and a new school record for the Lions. In the finals, she ran a time of 7.30 seconds to finish seventh in the eight-athlete race.
A&M-Commerce also had two former Lion track & field student-athletes competing at the USATF Indoor Nationals this weekend.
J.T. Smith, who was the defending champion in the men's 60 meter dash, finished eighth with a time of 6.58 seconds, though less than 0.100 seconds separated the last three runners in the eight-athlete race.
Justin Lewis, a former All-American for the Lions, cleared 7-1.5 (2.17m) to tie for seventh in the men's high jump, but was placed in a tie for eighth based on attempts.
