ALBA — The Sulphur Bluff Bears dropped their second consecutive game Tuesday after losing 16-0 to the Alba-Golden Panthers on the road. The Bears were kept off balance all game and couldn’t establish any rhythm, leading to a disappointing loss.

The first inning would be scoreless, as both teams played well defensively. That would change in the second inning, however, as the Panthers put up six runs, taking a 6-0 lead.

The Panthers would add three more runs in the third inning, extending their lead to 9-0. In the fourth inning, the Panthers scored seven more runs, ending the game handing the Bears a 16-0 loss.

As a team, the Bears batted just 1 for 12 (.083) from the plate. Gavin Brazell was the only Bear to record a hit.

Brody Gunn suffered the loss on the mound. Across two innings, he surrendered eight earned runs, five hits, and three walks, managing three strikeouts.

Kason Joslin pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief, allowing five earned runs, five walks, and two hits. Kip Collins pitched the final 1/3 of an inning, giving up three hits, three earned runs, and three walks.

With the loss, the Bears dropped to 3-4 on the season. They resumed action Friday, welcoming the Fruitvale Bobcats to Sulphur Bluff High School.
